Description

Warning: It's a big file.

**Edit: I've added pause and play buttons, so you can stop it if you want to look at something closer, and I've stopped it from automatically looping.

I think it's also worth mentioning this: The most useful tool I have is the eye-dropper. I went into my wacom tablet settings and changed the right-click button to function as ALT instead, so that I can hold it while drawing and select colors. You can also just hold the ALT button on your keyboard, but I find it easier to do with one hand and that's important since I use it almost as much as the brush tool.

As far as process goes, once I've blocked in all the really rough colors, I use the eye-dropper to select and blend them. I very rarely introduce new colors to the image after I have everything blocked in.

I wish I could actually use Flash. This took a lot longer to put together than I had expected. It had a bunch of commentary too, but I had problems exporting the text, so I took it out along with everything that only made sense when explained.

But I'll summarize it here. I think it's fair to say I spent half the time on this painting working on the composition and colors. So that's what's shown at the beginning of the video. I had a really clear image in my head of what I wanted, but it was really hard to transfer it to the canvas. I think after the last few paintings, I was used to working with more saturated colors than this called for.

xD Anyway, after that are so in-progress detail shots. It isn't really a tutorial, but I hope it's at least a little helpful. Or interesting.

Feel free to ask any questions.
